Microsoft's Vision of the Future Video - This video shows the types of technology that Microsoft is predicting for 2019.

No Future Left Behind - Video created by middle school students from Suffren Middle School that challenges educators to look at changing the current educational system to better prepare them for the future. This 5 minute video is well done and it has to accomplish it's goal of making us look at the future of education.

Spark from CBC Radio - "Spark is a weekly audio blog of smart and unexpected trendwatching. It’s not just technology for gearheads, it’s about the way technology affects our lives, and the world around us." Add this to your podcast list to keep up with new trends in technology. These new trends may have a place in education.

The Schools we Need
at Ignite Philly by Chris Lehman
Ignite Philly has interesting people give 5 minute presentations on a wide variety of topics. Chris is the Principal at The Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia. He discusses changing the system of education to create "caring institutions" that are "student centered, inquiry driven, passionate, meta-cognitive". The video and presentation can be found at Practical Theory.

Epic 2015
This video that was created by Robin Sloan and Matt Thompson. The creators create a scenario where in 2015 Googlezon is created and the media as we know it is no longer. The original, Epic 2014 was created in 2004. The video provides one fictional account of what life may be like in the future.

Map of Future Forces Affecting Education
This interactive site includes a detailed map predicting the forces that affect education for the future. There site includes many resources that relate to the forces, trends, dilemmas and hotspots. There are also a "Future of Ed Blog" and digital stories from students. Definitely worth studying and discussing. The updated 2009 version is due out in January.

Scott Klososky and Technology Story
I saw Scott speak at the Laptop Institute at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis and I was impressed by what he had to say. Scott is a businessman who specializes in "thought" leadership. You can subscribe to his newsletter/blog, Technology Story, for $100/year.

This report from The New Media Consortium and EDUCAUSE identifies trends for the future. The trends are identified under three "adoption horizons" which are based on projected timeframe for the technology to be integrated into teaching and learning.he six trends identified in this year's report are:

•Social networking;
•Mobile phones;
•Virtual worlds;
•New scholarship and emerging forms of publication; and
•Massively multiplayer educational gaming.

Speak Up 2007 for Students, Teachers, Parents & School Leaders

"Speak Up is a national initiative of Project Tomorrow (formerly known as NetDay), the nation’s leading education nonprofit
organization dedicated to ensuring that today’s students are well prepared to be tomorrow’s innovators, leaders and
engaged citizens of the world." Over 3,000 administrator respondents were included in the survey. What does the following finding say about school administrators as 21st centure visionaries?

"While 66% of school administrators give a passing grade to their school in its preparation of students for jobs of the
future, only 47% of teachers and 43% of parents agree. And amongst middle and high school students who
assessed their technology skills as “advanced,” only 23% of those students feel that their school is doing a good
job preparing them for future jobs."
